chromite deposits in jijal ultramafic complex pakistan

Sep 04, 2020· From 1994 to 1998, the total annual production of chromite from these deposits ranged from 15,135 tons to 37,472 tons (Shah et al. 2019).There are at a minimum 60 chromite bodies in the Jijal complex and are limited to the ultramafic rocks.

The suture zones, which border the Indian craton in Pakistan are characterized by several large mafic-ultramafic complexes. From south to north these include: (1) Bela, (2) Muslimbagh-Zhob valley, (3) Waziristan, (4) Dargai (Skhakot-Qila), (5) Shangla-Mingora, (6) Jijal, and (7) Sapat. The Kohistan arc is mainly made up of three parts, including the Glight complex, the Chilas complex, and the Southern plutonic complex (including the Kamila amphibolites and the Jijal complex).

Sep 04, 2020· 10%· From 1994 to 1998, the total annual production of chromite from these deposits ranged from 15,135 tons to 37,472 tons (Shah et al. 2019).There are at a minimum 60 chromite bodies in the Jijal complex and are limited to the ultramafic rocks.

Besides these, there is the huge (300x≤40 km) Chilas mafic–ultramafic complex in the Cretaceous Kohistan magmatic arc. The Sapat, Jijal, Shangla, and Dargai (Skhakot-Qila) complexes are distributed along the Indus suture. The Waziristan, Zhob valley and Bela complexes lie along the suture on the western margin of the Indian plate.

Jun 01, 1990· Jun 01, 1990· Abstract. The approximately 150 km 2 Jijal complex occupies a deep-level section of the Cretaceous Kohistan are obducted along the Indus suture. The complex consists of mafic garnet granulites, and a > 10 km × 4 km slab of pyroxenites (diopsidite > websterite; ± olivine), dunite, and subordinate peridotite, all of which are devoid of plagioclase.

Dec 31, 2016· This study is focused on the ultramafic rocks of the Jijal complex in Shangla district. Exposed rocks in the area are mostly dunnites, peridotites, pyroxenites and at some places serpentinites. These rocks contain considerable amount of podiform chromite deposits.

Aug 01, 2020· The Jijal Complex, one of the largest Neo-Tethyan ophiolites (ca. 150 km 2) in Pakistan, occupies a deep-level section of the Cretaceous Kohistan Arc that was obducted along the Main Mantle Thrust or Indus Suture Zone.Peridotites of the Jijal Complex consist mainly of harzburgite and dunite with numerous podiform chromitites.

Sapat mafic-ultramafic complex of Kohistan may also contain some of the chromite deposits. Besham-Jijal chromite is located near the Jijal (Kohistan District) on the Karakoram highway. Several dozen chromite pods and lenses have been reported in ultramafic rocks in the northwestern part of the Jijal complex.

exposed. In the study area, mafic and ultramafic rocks of the ISZ and KIA arc hosting chromite deposites, while the metasedimentory rocks of the IP are hosting Pb-Zn sulfide deposits. For this purpose, water, soil and plants samples were randomly collected from the Jijal-Dubair of KIA, Alpuri of ISZ; and Pazang, Lahor from the Besham of IP.
